Vishu
Vishu is one of the important festivals of Kerala. It comes in the month of Medam (April). Vishu Festival is also known as the Malayalam New Year day.
The main ritual on this day is Vishukkani and Vishu Kaineettam

Vishukani
The Vishukani consist of raw rice, cereals, coconut, gold ornament, new cloth, betel leaves with One rupee coin, fruits, vegetables like cucumber, mangoes, jackfruit and flowers of Konna tree. Behind the Vishukani, a mirror and the photo of Lord Krishna are also kept.
Vishu Kaineetam
Children wait eagerly for this ritual. The elders of the family starting with the grand father or father give money (coins or notes) to the younger ones.
