Chennai, May 17 : A 45-year-old man was arrested on the charge of marrying a minor girl and forcing her into prostitution, here.
Police said Pavithra (15), a tenth class student, from the suburban area was sold to Abdul, hailing from Coimbatore, by a woman Aaisha and her ally Sateesh for Rs 50,000.
Soon after the deal, Abdul had married the girl and tried to push her into prostitution.
Based on the complaint given by the girl's parents, she went missing since April 18. Meanwhile, the girl was said to have gone to a police station in Coimbatore seeking protection, on Thursday.
The girl confessed that she had gone to her friend's house in Perungulathur on April 18, where Aaisha forced her to marry a man to become rich.
Police were on the lookout for Aaisha and Satiesh.
