Udagamanadalam, "The Queen of Hills" is endowed with extraordinary scenic beauty and is one of the best known hill resorts of India and amidst the verdant Nilgiris or Blue Mountains. It was discovered by John Sullivan, the Collector of Coimbatore and was later named as Ootacamund or Ooty derived from the word ottakkalmandu, which means the "village of a single stone".

Botanical Garden, The colonial legacy of this british developed hill resort is still reflected in its terraced Botanical Garden has the most colorful collections of flora in Southern India. The beautifully maintained garden also has exotic varieties of orchids, ferns, ornamental and floral plants, alphines, coniferous trees ,etc. The ‘Fern House’ built here is one of the most attractive features of the garden.

Rose garden has become the largest rose garden of india which has the intial collection rose plants. It is the first rose garden in the country to be recognized as a "Garden of Excellence" by the World Federation of Rose societies.

Sabarimala
